FEBS workshop Ageing and Regeneration

From September 9th to September 12th the FEBS workshop “Ageing and Regeneration” was taking place at the University of Innsbruck. In this international workshop 20 invited speakers and 60 additional participants discussed the state of the art and novel developments in the fields of ageing research, stem cell research and regenerative medicine.

The workshop featured keynote lectures from international experts working at the forefront of science in both ageing research and regenerative medicine / stem cell biology. As a unique feature, the workshop covered work carried out in various domains of life, from plants, nematodes and tunicates to mice and humans, with the ambition to define and explore new integrative concepts and common strategies. Especially junior scientists – the future leaders in ageing and regeneration research – had the opportunity to individually interact with world class scientists in “Meet the Expert” sessions and to explore options for grant applications, international mobility, entrepreneurship, mentoring, etc in a “Young Scientists’ Career Workshop”. Additionally, female researchers had the opportunity to discuss gender issues in the “Women in Science” workshop.
