I studied Biology at the Humboldt University of Berlin and the Christian-Albrechts University of Kiel. My master thesis dealt with a functional genetic analysis of the role of c-type lectins for the immune system of the model organism C. elegans. In general, I am fascinated by the complexity and accuracy of the immune system and its role in protecting the integrity of an organism. However, increasing age is deleterious to its effectiveness. Within the scope of my PhD I aim to better understand the diphtheria-specific immune response across a broad range of ages. Through my work, my ambition is to contribute to the improvement of healthy aging.
