Interdisciplinary 'Limnogeology Fieldcourse' on Mondsee

In cooperation with the Institute of Limnology at Mondsee and the Institutes of Botany and Ecology the first interdisciplinary limnogeology fieldcourse was organized. During this 2 day course students were given an insight into many different aspects of the limnologic realm, both biological and geological.

Being the first fieldwork of its kind organized within our institutes it was quite a thrilling start with many uncertainties: How do you organize an interdisciplinary course like this? How do you communicate information to master students coming from completely different fields of research? And many more questions were asked in the beginning. All turned out well and we can look back on an interesting and exciting 2 days. Despite the short time span, new contacts between institutes have been forged and students and teachers alike got a look over the borders of their own field of research. After the fieldwork we can still look forward to the coming semester where there will still be lectures, practicals and finally a seminar where all students will present their own interdisciplinary research proposal.
