How does a tectonic activity lead hydrocarbon accumulation in the accretionary prism?

The upcoming issue of Marine and Petroleum Geology features an article co-authored by Dr. Arata Kioka demonstrating that gas accumulation in the Nankai accretionary prism is navigated predominantly by faults and dipping strata through investigation of spatial distribution of gas hydrate and hydrocarbon gas by integration of 3-D reflection seismic data analysis and rock physics.
