The new Mondsee core, obtained by Hipercorig and processes and analyses in our Austrian Core Facility at the University of Innsbruck, represents the first core that sampled, without extensive commercial drilling efforts, a complete and undisturbed sedimentary sequence since the deglaciation of the Alpine foreland. It also allowed recovery of material for 14C dating and framing the age of deglaciation of the Mondsee region to 18.456 ± 194 cal BP.
