Base of gas hydrate stability zone provides a clue to understanding of sedimentation and erosion processes?

An Earth, Planets and Space article co-authored by Arata Kioka reports an extensive map of gas hydrate bottom-simulating reflectors (BSRs) and influences of seafloor undulation on geothermal regime in the Nankai margin. The study suggests that BSRs allow investigation of sedimentation and erosion processes on the 10s to 100s of kiloyears scale in the hydrate-bearing subduction margins.
