Nationality: Austrian

2007 PhD in Geology, University of Innsbruck
Thesis: Uranium/Thorium age-dating of ‘impure’ carbonate cements of selected Quaternary depositional systems of western Austria: results, implications, and problems. (Advisor: D. Sanders)

2003 MSc in Geology, University of Innsbruck

General research interests

  • To understand the distribution of rockslides and DSGSDs in space and time
  • To understand controlling factors for deep-seated gravitational slope deformations and the state of activity.
  • To apply new methodical approaches as well in geochronology as in slope monitoring and numerical modelling.
  • To increase the process understanding of the deformation behaviour of fast to slow to extremely slow rockslides in different lithologies.

2012 - to date Project leader of the research project:
Age Inventory and Analysis of Catastrophic Rock Slope Failures in South Tyrol
Funded by the Autonomous Province of Bolzano - South Tyrol.

2008 - 2011 Project leader of the research project:
Catastrophic rockslides in the Alps
Funded by Austrian Research Foundation FWF (P20890-N10)

2003 - 2006 Research Assistant for the FWF-Project:
Quaternary lithified carbonate talus of the Northern Calcareous Alps (Austria): sedimentology, diagenesis, and paleoenvironmental significance.

2009 - 2014: Lecturer: CAD for Geologists

2009 - to date: Supervisor of several Master´s theses and Bachelor’s theses
