Arata Kioka is a postdoctoral researcher studying sediment dynamics in the plate subduction margins within FWF-project (EAGER Japan). He earned a Sc.D. degree in the Earth and Planetary Science from The University of Tokyo in 2016. Arata joined the University of Innsbruck in December 2016, after he was a postdoctoral researcher for ocean science in Atmosphere and Ocean Research Institute (AORI) at The University of Tokyo where he had been a member since 2011, and the ArCS Research Capacity Building Fellow at Lomonosov Moscow State University in summer 2016. Arata is broadly interested in earth surface processes, through a combination of approaches, including sea-going observation, geological sample measurements, geophysical data processing, numerical computation, and modification of conventional geophysical methods.
