Summary of field observations on lithification in carbonate-lithic rockslide deposits. The presence of cements also in deeper levels of rockslide masses (‚interstitial cementation‘ in Flims rockslide) and also along the flanks of later-incised river beds (e. g. Rhine, Inn) suggests that cementation may take place from very closely after the rockslide (Fern Pass) to well-after the event.

Tschirgant rockslide. View onto underside of boulder of dolomitized Wetterstein reefal limestone. Here, the boulder underside show an overhanging, dihaidron-like recess that is filled by a cemented breccia. Pen is 14 cm long.
