Die Conodontengattung Metapolygnathus HAYASHI 1968 und ihr stratigraphischer Wert

GPM 2, 11, p. 1–37

Summary:
The conodont genus Metapolygnathus HAYASHI February 1968 (= Epigondolella MOSHER July 1968 = Tardogondolella BENDER 1970 = Ancyrogondolella BUDUROV 1972) is discussed and some new species and subspecies of this genus as well as the new species Neospathodus germanicus and the new genus Mosherella are described. The stratigraphic significance of the genus Metapolygnathus is briefly discussed. The stratigraphie range of the species of Metapolygnathus strongly support the ammonoid zonation
of the Upper Triassic by TOZER 1967.
The worldwide distribution of the most species of Metapolygnathus and the knowledge of the evolutionary lines within the genus Metapolygnathus permit a worldwide recognition of the most of the North American Upper Triassic ammonoid zones in marine sediments.
