Short description: The SeRAC-CC project aims at applying a new concept for estimating the impacts of climate change on the behaviour of hydrological systems using the example of three small Eastern Alpine catchments differing in altitude and precipitation regime. The goals of SeRAC-CC are (i) to identify critical combinations of system states and meteorological conditions and (ii) to assess their future climate change driven occurrence probability. The main outcome refers to the evaluation of changes in the hydrological disposition of watersheds due to altered critical conditions of both, precipitation input and system states, and their effect on triggering runoff events. Thus SeRAC-CC allows for a more transparent quantification of future flood risks in Alpine catchments and supports the development of adaptation strategies.
