Teaching at UniBZ

Continuing the strong relationship between the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano and the University of Innsbruck, Flavio Vella invited Philipp Gschwandtner of the FZ HPC to give a guest lecture on OpenMP for the Introduction to Parallel Programming course at the University of Bolzano in December 2021. The topics of the lecture consisted of the basic characteristics of OpenMP, its classification within the parallel programming and HPC tools landscape and the most important features of its application and programming models. Despite the lecture done online due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the students engaged in lively interaction and contributed to a very successful event.

Hopefully, once the COVID-19 pandemic has passed, these efforts can be intensified by resuming organizational work for the joint HPCDSI school, originally planned for 2020, and further teaching collaborations in the field of parallel systems, parallel programming, and HPC.
