RC Migration & Globalisation
A multitude of experts at the University of Innsbruck working in different disciplines and departments engage in the study of migration and social plurality from various perspectives. This Research Center integrates expertise from the fields of educational studies and history, literary studies and linguistics, European ethnology and philosophy, political science and sociology, jurisprudence and architectural theory. It is intended to cater to the needs of interested researchers as well as the general public, the media, and politics, linking the University of Innsbruck with a range of pertinent national and international research, teaching, and documentation centers, as well as NGOs and other organizations. The members of the Research Center are committed to critical, theory-based migration research that not only reflects upon the political conditions of migration, but also continuously examines their own personal perceptions, positions, and involvements. Their research is consequently conducted in correlation with migrant and activist practices. Migration research is thus understood in a broader sense as the study of societies, with migration supplying a crucial perspective on societal and global change.
