Pflanzen im Botanischen Garten

Botanical Garden

The Botanical Garden is a teaching and research facility of the University of Innsbruck. Since 1906, the facilities in Hötting, to which the Institute of Botany is connected, have also been open to visitors.

The Botanical Garden has now been located in Hötting for over 100 years and is not only indispensable as a teaching and research site of the Institute of Botany of the University of Innsbruck, but also an educational and recreational place for children, young people and adults. More than 7000 plant species from the most diverse habitats of the earth are cultivated here.

In the approximately 2 ha large area you can admire mountain plants in the Alpinum, expand your knowledge of medicinal, poisonous and spice plants or take a walk in the park. In our scent and touch garden you can experience plants with all your senses. In the show houses you can learn more about tropical rainforests and subtropical dry areas.
