Preamble

The rapid development of new and emerging digital technologies raises challenging legal questions. It therefore provides many opportunities for lawyers with specialist knowledge in this field.

This course examines digital innovation from the perspective of European Union law. The European Union has been playing a pioneering role in digital regulation. It has raised data protection standards through the General Data Protection Regulation and levied landmark antitrust fines against major tech companies. Forthcoming legislative packages will advance the regulation of artificial intelligence and of digital services. The course will provide a thorough understanding of this legal framework.

Moreover, the course introduces participants to the use and development of digital tools by lawyers (legal tech).
