The Austrian Quantum Fiber Network (AQUnet) is a five-year infrastructure project funded by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG).  Partners include the ACONET Association, the University of Vienna, the University of Innsbruck, TU Wien, and the Federal Office of Metrology and Surveying (BEV).  AQUnet builds on the existing national high-speed fiber backbone for research, education, and culture, called ACOnet.  In the German-language press release below, we discuss how AQUnet will enable new research in quantum communication and quantum metrology.
