PhD position in quantum photonics

Tunable quantum dot with circular gratingFor our new project on quantum dots as advanced single photon sources for the generation of multiphoton states in collaboration with the universities of Linz and Vienna, we are looking for a promising PhD candidate with a Master's degree or equivalent in Physics, Photonics, or Electrical Engineering.

Innsbruck offers a great and competitive scientific environment in the fields of quantum optics and quantum information. The Photonics group focuses on using semiconductor nanostructures for quantum optics and quantum communications tasks.

Our PhD positions are 30 h/week contracts with a minimum gross yearly salary of € 30755 as stipulated by the collective bargaining agreement. Furthermore, the university has numerous attractive benefits. Your initial contract will be for one year to be extended for up another three years upon satisfactory performance in the first year. Within the first year a thesis plan, -committee and -agreement will be set up to guide you through the program and help you along in your research.
