Innsbrucker Summer Seminar

Workshops on methods of empirical social and educational research successfully resumed.

After two years of interruption due to the pandemic, the Innsbruck Summer Seminar on Methods in Empirical Social and Educational Research took place from July 4 to 8, 2022. It offered both young and advanced researchers from all over Austria and the  neighboring countries the opportunity to extend their statistical knowledge under expert guidance.

The Innsbruck Summer Seminar on Methods in Empirical Social and Educational Research entered its fifth round this year after an enforced break of two years. In four face-to-face workshops and one online workshop over the course of a week, introductions to and in-depth studies of the statistics program R, linear and logistic regression analyses, multilevel analyses, and structural equation models took place.

Like before the pandemic, an international audience from Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Italy could be welcomed at the Summer Seminar. Many of the more than 50 participants joint us for the second time.

According to the very positive feedback from the participants, this year's Summer Seminar once again offered the opportunity for an in-depth and application-oriented examination of the statistical methods offered. In addition, social events and a guided tour of the city provided an opportunity for the social and educational researchers to get to know each other and to network.

The Innsbruck Summer Seminar has been organized by the Research Center "Education, Generation, Life Course" and the Institute of Educational Science at the University of Innsbruck since 2016. This year, it could again count on the generous support of the Institute of the Federation for Quality Assurance in the Austrian School System (IQS), the Austrian Society for Research and Development in Education (ÖFEB), the Faculty of Education and the Research Area Economy, Politics & Society (EPoS) of the University of Innsbruck.
