Legal basis for equal treatment and the advancement of women at Austrian universities
The amendment to Federal Law Gazette 2015/21 amended provisions in the Universities Act that are relevant to equal treatment:
All university collegial bodies must now include 50% women (Section 20a UG). This is in line with the Federal Equal Treatment Act.
In addition to the plan for the advancement of women, the university is also obliged to issue an equality plan. Among other things, this should regulate anti-discrimination and reconciliation measures. As with the plan for the advancement of women, the AKG has the right to make proposals for the equality plan.
