General Information for Course Registration

The university courses within the scope of the continuing education at the University of Innsbruck are carried out as hybrid courses, taking into account the Corona-related safety requirements of the federal government and the University of Innsbruck.

Please inform about the currently valid safety requirements at:

https://www.uibk.ac.at/newsroom/informationen-zum-coronavirus.html.de#coronavirus

A significant part of the safety precautions is your own responsibility:

  • Pay attention to the general hygiene measures and distance rules.
  • Don’t attend events with physical attendance if you have symptoms or feel sick.

Our instructors usually use OpenOlat, the learning management system of the University of Innsbruck (link: https://lms.uibk.ac.at) and an adapted version of the web conference system BigBlueButton (BBB) as virtual classroom. You will be informed by the course director or the lecturer should another tool be used.

Technical requirements for online courses:

  • stable broadband internet connection
  • PC / MAC, mobile devices or smartphones with common requirements. When using older iOS devices (iPad / iPhone with iOS older than version 12.0) there may be restrictions (problems with screen sharing or when using the microphone and webcam).
  • headset (microphone with headphones) for better sound quality
  • optional: webcam

We recommend using the following browsers: Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Edge (based on Chromium).

Registrations will be ranked according to the date of entry – after checking the registration requirements according to the course schedule. After successful registration, participants will immediately get registration confirmation by e-mail. About two weeks but at the most four weeks after registration, the participants will get an admission confirmation and the payment request resp. The contract is concluded with the transmission of the admission confirmation and the payment request resp.

There is a minimum number of participants for all University Courses. Only if the minimum number is achieved, the University Courses take place (see no. 6).

3. Course fee and payment conditions

The course fee is shown separately for each University Course. Payment of the course fee must be made to the specified account of the Division of Continuing Education within 7 days after receipt of the payment request. Any additional services are listed in the respective descriptions of the University Courses. Course fees are free of VAT.

Only with payment of the full course fee, the participants are entitled to attend the University Courses.

A substitute participant will be accepted upon fulfilment of the registration requirements without additional costs.

5. Right of withdrawal

In the case of a consumer transaction in the sense of the Consumer Protection Act, there is a right of revocation if the programme is not provided in connection to a leisure activity and no specific time or period has been set for the course upon conclusion of the contract. In this case the period is 14 days from the conclusion of the contract. A cancellation form is attached to the confirmation of admission, but it is not mandatory to use it. If the registration is made within 14 days before the start of the course, the participants expressly consent to the start of the programme before the expiration of the revocation period. If courses (e.g. blocked courses) are ended before the expiration of the revocation period, the participants declare that they will waive their right of revocation.

6. Cancellation of University Courses / Courses / absence of individual lecturers / exclusion

The University reserves the right to cancel individual University Courses if the required minimum number of participants is not reached or Covid-19 provisions do not allow the programme to be implemented. In this case, the already paid course fee will be refunded in full immediately. Also cancellation fees will be refunded in the event of cancellation.

No reimbursement of the course fee will be made to participants who cancel the course programme prematurely for reasons that lie within their area. The same applies to participants who are excluded from a programme due to disregard of essential regulations (e.g. serious or repeated violations of the house rules, Covid-19 safety regulations or good scientific practice). There is no refund for parts of the course fee  in the event of a replacement of a course lecturer. A refund of parts of the fee for the course is also excluded if there are minor changes (such as change in date or location, partial changeover to virtual lectures) that are factually justified. If dates are postponed during the current semester, no reimbursement can be made for expenses incurred (e.g. travel expenses, parking fees, costs for lost time) if these are not due to intent or gross negligence on the part of the University of Innsbruck or the lecturer.

7. Proof of success and confirmation of participation

At the end of the University Course, the participants will receive a proof of success and a confirmation of participation resp.,   provided that they have passed the required examinations as well as the compulsory attendance of 75% stipulated by the Division of Continuing Education.
