Journal Disability Studies

The Journal of Disability Studies (ZDS), published by innsbruck university press (iup), is the first academic journal in the field of disability studies in the German-speaking world. Based on an understanding of (non-)disability as a social, political-economic and cultural construction, the aim of ZDS is to analyse the production of (non-)disability and normality in all social and academic contexts.

The journal aims to contribute to a changed understanding of (non-)disability and to the participation of all. The aim of combining science, activism and art is to promote inter- and transdisciplinary research and theorising, which is not only aimed at participation in the given, but also at the social emancipation of all.

By publishing the Journal of Disability Studies / ZDS Journal of Disability Studies, we are committed to promoting academic exchange within the specialist community. ZDS is published twice a year and is open access and barrier-free: https://zds-online.org/
