Excursion Mountain regions under global change
Preamble:
Water from mountain regions is getting more and more attention due to shrinking storage and increasing demand. Let's follow the cylce of water in vulnerable regions!
Benefits from lecture:
- The lecture helps to bring many if not all components of the study program together and to apply the knowledge in collaborative projects with peer
Special features of lecture:
- Outdoor experiences and group work
- Project designing
- Data aquisition
Main lecturers:
- Fabian Drenkhan
- Gerhard Kreitner
- Lorenz Hänchen
- Wolfgang Gurgiser
Destination:
Currently, the excursion is planned to Peru with stays in the Cordillera Blanca (Huaraz Region) and in Lima. In case of enhanced global crisis with increased prices and/or security risks, the destination might be changed. We are also aware that an excursion to Peru will have a large CO2 foodprint. While we will discuss options to compensate emissions, we also motivate all students to consider a private stay in the region to make more out of the same emissions. There might also be options to due a intership at Peruvian institutions whereas in this case, some knowledge of Spanish is recommended.
