As a ”nature boy” who likes to do various types of sports in an intact environment, I’m especially interested to find out more about biodiversity in all kinds of ecosystems, and how it’s possible to protect this diversity for the future. Therefore, I enjoy the possibilities provided by the Molecular Ecology Group to learn various methods for species identification, at the molecular, morphological, and chemical level. In my MSc project, my aim is to find out whether it’s possible to distinguish two different species of Alpine jumping bristletails via near-infrared reflectance spectroscopy.

Research Topics

  • Alpine endemism
  • Routine identification tools

Working title MSc thesis:
Near-infrared reflectance spectroscopy as a tool for species identification of Machilis jumping bristletails
