I study Zoology at the University of Innsbruck, and in my MSc thesis, I compare the method Amplified Fragment Length Polymorphism (AFLP) with the next-generation sequencing method Restriction‐site Associated DNA sequencing (RAD). In this experiment, three animal species (Omocestus petraeus, Stenobothrus nigromaculatus, and Plagiolepis taurica) and three plant species (Astragalus onobrychis, Stipa capillata, and Euphorbia seguieriana) are examined. The aim of my thesis is to find out if the AFLP method is precise enough for identifying the separate populations of each species.

Research Topics:

  • Biogeography and faunistics
  • Phylogeny and phylogeography
  • Population genetics

Working title MSc thesis:

Comparing information efficiency of high- versus low-resolution genome scans for phylogeographic studies
