20-080 Assessment Tool

Overview

The OpenOlat Assessment tool enables individual or group-assessments. It is a central Assessment service for assessable Course elements. The assessment tool can be used on registered Course- or Group members in connection with certain Course elements, for example Test, Task and Assessment. Assessment feedback can be given as points, Passed/Not passed or individual feedback. The assessment feedback can only be viewed by the individual User.

Important Steps

Open your course via Authoring and open the course you would like to configure

 

Option 1: Assessment via Administration

  1. Click on Administration and then onto Assessment tool. The Assessment tool opens.

In the menu bar in the top of the window you can choose between the following options: Overview, Users or Groups (if they are present in the course).

  • The tab Overview will provide an overview of all assessable elements (Users, Groups, Course elements) and pending assessments. It serves as a statistical overview and a quick way to check if users have passed.

With the Bulk assessment option in the top right-hand corner, you can provide simultaneous assessment feedback to multiple users.

  • The Users tab facilitates grading of all assessable Course elements (listed in the left column) based on Users.

  • The Groups tab facilitates grading of all assessable Course elements (listed in the left column) based on groups.

  1. If you choose the Users tab, you have two options:

    • You can choose an assessable Course element (listed to the left) and a list of all of the Course element participants will be presented or

    • You can choose a User and subsequently choose the assessable Course element

  1. Choose the User/Course element and the Assessment form opens. Depending on the Course element, you can review the uploaded material and hand ins or select the test results.

  2. Provide the assessment feedback. Assessment feedback can be given as points, Passed/Not passed or individual feedback You can choose in the Course editor of the Course element if assessment feedback is given as Points, Passed/Not passed or Feedback.

  3. In the Result line, choose if the results are instantly visible to the User or not.

  4. Choose Save or Save and set to ‘done’ status to close the assessment grading (if the assessment of the User if finished). You will then arrive in the Users or Overview tab .

  5. To reopen the assessment, open the respective assessment form. The Reopen for assessment option is beside the Save button.

  6. Click on the red X in the right-hand corner in top of the window to close the Assessment tool. The Users now have access to the assessment results in the Course view via the respective Course element, or in Evidence of achievement.

 

Option 2: Assessment grading in the Course view

  1. Choose the Course element that you would like to grade.

  2. Click onto the person that you would like to grade.

  3. Provide the assessment feedback. Assessment feedback can be given as points, Passed/Not passed or individual feedback You can choose in the Course editor of the Course element if assessment feedback is given as Points, Passed/Not passed or Feedback.

  4. In the Result line, choose if the results are instantly visible to the User or not.

  5. Choose Save or Save and set to ‘done’ status to close the assessment grading (if the assessment of the User if finished). You will then arrive in the Users or Overview tab .

  6. To reopen the assessment, open the respective assessment form. The Reopen for assessment option is beside the Save button.
