  Based on former Alpine Convention studies and the results of WP5 and WP6, this work package elaborated a set of core indicators for the chosen main trend, namely the urbanisation processes in the Alpine space. In the process, a problem oriented approach was used considering the three pillars of sustainability: environment, economy and society. The indicators are proposed for the municipal and local level (LAU 5). To focus the selection of indicators a conceptual model was established:

Identification indicators
The identification indicators shall be used to localise the main trends and to describe the extent of their occurrence. The following table displays a set of indicators, which was defined to identify and characterise urbanisation processes in the context of the main trend "Urban centres and fringes - between competition and cooperation".
