Dr. Zary Shariman Bin Yahaya

Titel: Larvicidal activities of Vitex trifolia L. extracts from Penang, Malaysia against Aedes aegypti larvae

Kurzinhalt: The study aimed to develop a novel insecticide from natural products that are free of resistance, environmentally friendly, readily available, and economical. The researchers conducted phytochemical analysis of essential oil and organic extracts of Vitex trifolia L. from Penang, Malaysia and tested its larvicidal activities against third instar larvae of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes after 24 h of treatment. The results showed that the methanolic and chloroform flower bud extract had promising larvicidal activity against the third instar larvae of Ae. aegypti. This study provides evidence that V. trifolia plant can be used as an alternative source for developing natural insecticides.
