Prisons are meant to prepare people for a life after release - yet digital tools that could support this are rarely part of everyday prison life. In a new open-access article in Social Inclusion, Veronika Hofinger and Philipp Pflegerl examine a pilot project in Austrian prisons and show: the biggest barriers to digital rehabilitation are not technical, but institutional.
