Bahram Salehi is a Ph.D. researcher at the Institute for Infrastructure, University of Innsbruck, Austria .
He holds dual graduate degrees in Mining Engineering and Geotechnical Engineering.
His research is centered on the seismic behavior, resilience, and reliability of underground structures.
His research is centered on the seismic behavior, resilience, and reliability of underground structures, with a particular focus on soil–structure interaction (SSI), advanced constitutive modeling, and performance-based seismic design.
His work combines advanced finite element analysis, physical model testing, and field monitoring data to investigate the structural response and interaction mechanisms of single- and double-shell tunnel lining systems subjected to static and dynamic loading conditions.
His long-term research objective is to advance seismic design methodologies beyond conventional force-based and deformation-based approaches by developing a unified design framework that explicitly accounts for composite structural action, energy dissipation mechanisms, and the adaptive evolution of material properties throughout seismic loading.
This approach aims to more realistically capture the nonlinear interaction between ground and structural components, leading to safer, more resilient, and performance-oriented underground infrastructure.
