SFB-FoQuS International Conference
February 4-8, 2019, Innsbruck

Hauptgebäude der Universität Innsbruck

We warmly invite you to the SFB-FoQuS International Conference, which will take place in beautiful Innsbruck, Austria from February 4-8, 2019 at the University of Innsbruck. We hope you will join us as we celebrate the 350th anniversary of the University of Innsbruck and a twenty-year era of Special Research Programs (SFBs) linking quantum research in Innsbruck and Vienna. The conference addresses the foundations and applications of quantum science in a single-session format.  We are pleased to welcome an outstanding set of invited speakers who will present state-of-the-art research and perspectives on quantum science.

During the past twenty years, the Special Research Centers (German: Spezialforschungsbereiche, SFB) F15 Control and Measurement of Coherent Quantum Systems and F40 Foundations and Applications of Quantum Science (FoQuS), based both in Innsbruck and Vienna, have been a melting pot for new concepts, for theoretical advances, and for experiments that pushed our understanding of fundamental quantum principles.  Platforms for this research have included neutrons, micromechanical systems (both within F15), entangled few-photon systems, trapped ions, ultracold quantum degenerate gases, and large molecules. Theoretical insights and experimental methods that were developed by our consortium now allow us to control, manipulate and measure small quantum systems with an unprecedented agility.
