Governance for Sustainability Transitions: Shaping Regional Challenges and Change

Despite all sustainable development efforts that have been undertaken to solve global challenges over this past generation, the impact of human activities on the environment has transcended the "safe operating space of humanity" also known as planetary boundaries (Rockström et al. 2009). Fossil fuel induced climate change, environmental pollution or financial crises are symptoms of the underlying persistent unsustainability. In this context the search for alternative modes of development, of production and consumption on the one hand and the governance of these alternative modes are more urgent than ever. Against this background - even though the participants are free to choose their own topics for submission -  this year's DoKoNaRa focuses on different perspectives of sustainability transitions and governance.

What is DoKoNaRa?
