EcoSeed will reveal how seed quality is modulated by changing environmental factors, focussing on abiotic stress as predicted in climate change scenarios. Molecular mechanisms determining seed phenotype and key quality traits will be assessed. The regulatory switchboards that control seed fate will be studied using a multi-disciplinary approach of omics, epigenetics and post-omics approaches, biochemistry and biophysics. The overall aim is to enhance our knowledge of the molecular mechanisms that determine seed quality traits and phenotype under varying levels of abiotic stress, with the aim to develop tools for improved crop management and conservation activities.
