Transition from free-expansion to Sedov phase in supernova remnants

The Sedov explosion is a usual numerical test to verify a typical fluid-dynamics solver. This setup is a good representation of the Sedov phase of the evolution of a supernova remnant. Earlier in the evolution of a supernova remnant the free-expansion phase becomes relevant, where the mass of the hull of the progenitor start expands into the interstellar medium. In this bachelor thesis, we will test numerically, when the transition between the two phases takes place and check if this is consistent with analytical approximations. For this a Python interface needs to be developed to manage different simulation setups. With this different configurations for the initial supernova and the interstellar medium can be investigated.
