Meade - "mobile Observatory"

Since the year 2004 the Institute of Astro- and Particle Physics is in possession of a LX 200 GPS 10" Meade Telescope with Schmidt - Cassegrain construction, a 254mm mirror and a focal length of 2500mm. The major advantages of this telescope are its mobility and its straightforward installation.  The orientation on the sky works via GPS. Thus it is ready to use on any location within a short time. Power can be supplied by batteries, via a 12V adapter or with the common standard 220V.  Its total weight of 40.8 kg allows transportation also for single persons (the heaviest piece is 28.1 kg). The most common operational activity at the moment is during public outreach events like the monthly Open Night at the Institute.
