Research

The research activities of the Unit of Applied Mechanics are dedicated to the development and practical application of analytical, numerical, and experimental methods of

  • structural dynamics,
  • earthquake engineering, and
  • soil dynamics.

The core activities include

  • modelling of linear and nonlinear systems in a dynamic environment for efficient computation,
  • their validation by experiments and numerical comparison,
  • the development of innovative solutions for their control, and
  • structural assessment and health-monitoring based on methods of structural dynamics.

The ultimate goal of the Unit of Applied Mechanics is to provide information on the reliability of these systems and their risk assessment. The strong international network of the Unit is proven by a number of projects and publications with international research partners.
