Short biography

Education

  • 2007: Ph.D. University of Udine (Italy). Dissertation topic: Itinerari di culto nell’età di Mari (Cultic Itineraries in the Mari Period). Supervisor: Prof. F.M. Fales.
  • 2001: M.A. cum laude (Laurea 110/110 cum laude), Faculty for the Conservation of Cultural Heritage, University of Udine (Italy). Thesis topic: Il jebel Bishri nelle fonti del Vicino Oriente Antico (The Jebel Bishri in Ancient Near Eastern Sources). Supervisor: Prof. F.M.Fales
  • 1998 (SS)-1999 (WS): Studies at the Ruprecht-Karls University of Heidelberg (Germany), Institute of Assyriology.

Academic Positions

  • 2015-Present: Visiting Professor at the Institute for Ancient History and Ancient Near Eastern Studies at the Leopold-Franzens University Innsbruck.
  • 2012-Present: Director of the archaeological project Satu Qala in Iraqi-Kurdistan.
  • 2008-2015: Lecturer at the Institute of Ancient Near Eastern Studies, University of Leipzig (Germany).
  • 2012-2013: Postdoc Visiting Professor at the Department for Egyptology and Ancient Western Asian Studies, Brown University (USA).
  • 2007-2008: Research Assistant at the project "Sources for Early Akkadian Literature" at the Institute of Ancient Near Eastern Studies, University of Leipzig (Germany).
  • 2007 (SS): Temporary Lecturer for Ancient Near Eastern History at the University of Udine.

  • 2013: National Geographic Waitt Grant for "Urbanism and Political Regeneration: Mapping the Lower Town of Satu Qala" (co-applicant with Prof. Lauren Ristvet).
