Lake Schwarzsee ob Sölden


This lake is located at 2796 m a.s.l. above Sölden in the Ötz valley. It is the highest lake in the Alps containig a fish population with arctic charr (Salvelinus alpinus). The sediment of this lake gives a climate record for the past 10 000 years.

Schwarzsee is an object for limnological research since several decades. The picture to the left shows the conductivity of the lake water for a period of more than 20 years.
