Hardware of LEO I

This web site provides some hardware details of the main cluster components.

Cluster

The whole cluster consists of three racks with a total of 16 nodes.

Computing nodes

X4440
  • 4 nodes are equipped with:
    • 4 Quad-Core AMD Opteron (Shanghai) 8380 CPUs (16 cores running on 2.5 GHz)
    • 64 GB DDR2 RAM (4 GB per core)
  • 4 nodes are equipped with:
    • 4 Quad-Core AMD Opteron (Barcelona) 8356 CPUs (16 cores running on 2.3 GHz)
    • 32 GB DDR2 RAM (2 GB per core)
  • 4 x 1Gb Ethernet adapter
  • Raid controller, configured with RAID1
  • 2x 146 GB SATA2 hard disk
V40z
7 nodes consist of:
  • Dual-Core AMD Opteron 875 CPUs (8 cores running on 2.2 GHz)
  • 16 GB DDR2 RAM (2 GB per core)
  • 4 x 1Gb Ethernet adapter
  • 146 GB SATA hard disk
V20z
1 node (queue long.q only) is equipped with:
  • Dual-Core AMD Opteron 275 CPUs (4 cores running on 2.2 GHz)
  • 8 GB DDR2 RAM (2 GB per core)
  • 2 x 1Gb Ethernet adapter
  • 73 GB SCSI hard disk
