Information on tuition fees
Following a ruling by the Constitutional Court, the amount of the tuition fee changes for the summer semester.
All students (in degree programmes and also non-degree students) only have to pay the Membership fee for the Austrian Student Union (Österr. Hochschülerschaft ÖH).
For the summer term 2012 the amount is EURO 17,00.
There are different ways to pay this amount:
- ATM - Chash-card (If your Cashcard has a Maestro function, you pay for the servicepoints)
- Quick-Cash with your Student Card
(First you have to charge the amount onto your card at a bank, then you have to pay the ÖH-fee at the servicepoints) - Payment by Bank transfer

Please check if your payment is credited for your study programmes, by printing your documents (Admission Record and study confirmation) at lfu:online.uibk.ac.at with the admission period! After 10 days you should be able to print it out, otherwise please contact the admission office!
Regardless their citizenship the following students are entitled to apply for remission of the tuition fee:
• Students who spend study periods or periods of practice abroad within the framework of international student mobility (european, national or universitary mobility programmes); e.g. Erasmus, Leonardo, Joint Study programmes etc. This regulation includes students who have to spend part of their study period abroad due to the regulations in their curriculum (required subjects, elective subjects or practical exercise).
• Students with non-Austrian citizenship who take part in such a mobility programme and spend study periods in Austria
• Students from countries or universities that do not charge Austrian students tuition fees
• holders of a victim card (Opferausweis)
When do you have to apply for remission?
The application for remission has to be submitted by the March 31st for the summer semester and October 31st for the winter semester. In case of a negative decision you will have to pay the tuition fee within the admission period. If you are remitted the tuition fee, you still have to pay the Students’ Union fee by the extended admission deadline.
Translation
Documents that are not in German or English must be translated by a sworn translator. Please note that all authentication notes must be translated and that the translator's signature must be certified by the competent authority (e.g. Foreign Ministry) (this does not apply to translations done by a sworn translator in Austria). The translation and the authenticated document must be joined inseparably!
Attention:
If your tuition fee remains unpaid after the extended admission deadline, your admission expires.
In any case please control a few days after your payment if the amount has been received by the University by extending the validity date of your student card at the servicepoint and printing your study confirmations from LFU:online.
