B - Biology (=Biologie)
You must prove that you had biology as a subject in secondary school.

Combined Study Programme
(=Kombinationspflichtige Studienrichtung) The study programme must be combined with another study programme marked with a "C". Note: When applying for admission to a combined study programme, both subjects must be indicated.
Country of Issue of the Secondary School Leaving Certificate
(=Ausstellungsland des Reifezeugnisses) Country responsible for the issue of your secondary school leaving certificate. If you have received your school leaving certificate from a foreign school, the country is considered country of issue according to whose legal system the certificate has been issued.

(=Studienplan) Indicates the courses and examinations necessary for a specific degree programme.

(=Ordentliches Studium) Study programme concluding in a diploma conceived to prepare students academically or artistically for professions.

(=Ordentliche/r Studierende/r) Student registered for a degree programme.
DG - Descriptive Geometry
(=Darstellende Geometrie) If you have not taken an examination in Descriptive Geometry at your secondary school, you must sit a supplementary examination in this subject before you finish your First Diploma Examination (this applies to the degree programmes Architecture and Civil Engineering). Note: You must not finish your First Diploma Examination if you fail to prove your sitting an examination in Descriptive Geometry.
Diploma Supplement
(=Diploma Supplement) The Diploma Supplement is a document attached to a higher education diploma aiming at improving international ‘transparency' and (student) mobility in a diverse European Higher Education Area by facilitating the academic and professional recognition of qualifications (diplomas, degrees, certificates etc.). It is handed out together with the diploma certificate, the diploma and the transcript of records. Doctoral Programme
(=Doktoratsstudium) Postgraduate degree programme for the development of the capacity for independent research.

(=Fortsetzungsmeldung) Formal entitlement to continuing your studies which is renewed each term.

(=Fakultät) Subject-oriented segmentation of a university (15 faculties at the University of Innsbruck). A faculty is headed by a Dean.

(=Allgemeine Zulassungsfrist) Period during which one can apply for admission and or renew one's enrolment.

German Language Skills
(=Deutschkenntnisse) Applicants who do not speak sufficient German must sit a supplementary examination in German before they may commence a degree programme. The University holds German classes during the summer and winter terms (NB: the classes should not be seen as a profound long-term tuition but as a first introduction to the German language!). To attend German classes, you must submit an application for admission.
GR - Greek
(=Griechisch) If you have not taken an examination in Greek at your secondary school, you must sit a supplementary examination in this subject before you finish your First Diploma Examination (this applies to certain degree programmes at the Faculties of Humanities and Catholic Theology). Note: You must not finish your First Diploma Examination if you fail to prove your sitting an examination in Greek.

L - Latin
(=Latein) If you have not taken an examination in Latin at your secondary school, you must sit a supplementary examination in this subject before you finish your First Diploma Examination. Note: You must not finish your First Diploma Examination if you fail to prove your sitting an examination in Latin.
Attention: In some cases you must prove that you had Latin as a subject in secondary school. This applies to the following study programmes:

Lecture Timetable
(=Vorlesungsverzeichnis) Catalogue of lectures published every term. It contains the names and addresses of all lecturers, departments and other university staff. Many departments also publish their own "individual" lecture timetables which tend to be more up-to-date than the university-wide "Vorlesungsverzeichnis".

Master Programme
Study programme concluding in a master degree, based on a completed bachelor programme, comprising emphasis on some areas.

Non-degree programme studies
a university course programme or the attendance of individual courses. A non-degree programme student does not intend to complete a degree programme.

PF - Physical Fitness
(=Körperlich-motorische Eignung) You must take an entrance examination testing your physical fitness before you may take up the bachelor programmes Health Sports, Sports Management, High Performance Sports and the secondary school teacher accreditation programme of Physical Education.

Recognition
(=Anerkennung) Formal integration of outside elements (eg. examinations taken at a recognised foreign university) in a degree programme.
Registration Number
(=Matrikelnummer) A 7-digit identification number which you receive when you are admitted to an Austrian university. You keep your registration number even if decide to move to another Austrian university.

Secondary School Teacher Accreditation Programme
(=Lehramtsstudium) A special type of degree programmes where you must go through pedagogic training during the second stage of your studies.
S - Single Study Programme
(=Einzelstudium) Must not be combined with another study programme (single study programmes are marked with a "S"). You may, however, study several single study programmes at the same time.
SC - Study Code
(=Studienkennzahl) A unique 3-digit code allocated to each study programme (eg. 101 = Law).

(=Studiengang) Generic term for all possible types of academic studies.

TM- Talent for Music
(=Musische Begabung) You must take an entrance examination testing your talent for music (this applies to the secondary school teacher accreditation programme of Music Education).
