INVITATION
The BIPESCO-Team and the Applied and Trophic Ecology Research Group from the University of Innsbruck are hosting the 13th Meeting about “Insect Pathogens and Entomoparasitic Nematodes” in Innsbruck – Austria, on June 19th – 23rd, 2011. Over the past decades, Innsbruck has established itself as a place where tradition meets modernity to become the leading tourist destination in the Alps. The prestigious Leopold-Franzens-University arranges scientific events, inspired by the atmosphere in the heart of the Alps. Innsbruck, two times host of the winter Olympic Games (1964 and 1976), is the fifth-largest city in Austria and the capital of Tyrol in the pleasurable West of Austria. Innsbruck can be reached conveniently from outside Austria.
The subject of this meeting is “Biological Control in IPM Systems”. The Teams would like to stimulate discussions on viruses, bacteria, fungi, nematodes, and other microbial control agents of insects, molluscs, and nematodes and, therefore, welcome contributions with innovative approaches and new results in this context. A special emphasis is also given to wireworms, synthesising the progress made in wireworm ecology and control during the last few years and identifying future research lines. Furthermore, the Teams would highlight work aimed at overcoming major practical constraints of biocontrol approaches, certainly including basic research, for example on BCA identification and characterisation, ecology, as well as mode of action and genetics.
The overall aim of the meeting is to encourage communication between entomologists, pathologists, and experts of other disciplines on new and relevant problems in biocontrol. Therefore, significant amount of time will be dedicated to facilitate exchange of expert knowledge and experience.
According to the figures of previous meetings the Teams expect around 180 participants from many countries. The meeting will last three full days, including a half day excursion. Detailed information on the agenda will be sent out in winter 2010/2011. The conference language is English, and oral and poster presentations will be accepted. Submission of presentations must be accompanied by a four-page manuscript for publication in the IOBC/WPRS Bulletin to be handed out at the meeting.
The first announcement, including more detailed information on the upcoming 13th IOBC-Meeting in Innsbruck, will follow soon.
We are looking forward to welcoming you in Innsbruck - Austria.
With best regards,
- Team Innsbruck
