Experimental damage tests on a historic railway bridge

The company VCE provided the Unit of Applied Mechanics with a small historic railway bridge for research purposes. In spring 2012 damage tests will be carried out in collaboration with the Technical Laboratory for Research and Testing (TVFA, University of Innsbruck) and the Unit for Steel Construction and Mixed Building Technology (University of Innsbruck), and the Unit of Structural Mechanics and Dynamics (Vienna University of Technology).

Nomination for the Austrian National Award for Consulting 2011

The project partner of the Unit of Applied Mechanics, VCE Holding GmbH, has been nominated for the Austrian National Award for Consulting for the project SEISMID, which was supported by the ZIT - the technology promotion agency of the City of Vienna. The certificate was awarded on December 1st, 2011 in the Oktogon of the Bank Austria in Vienna.

In this book, which has been co-written by Professor Adam, are summarized the most important results of the research project SEISMID - Seismic System Identification for Vienna Basin.

Doctoral Program at the University of Innsbruck

The FWF (Austrian Science Fund) approved for the first time a doctoral program at the University of Innsbruck. Prof. Sabine Schindler from the Institute of Astro- and Particle Physics leads this doctoral progam "Computational Interdisciplinary Modelling". Prof. Christoph Adam from the Unit of Applied Mechanics is responsible for the subproject "Computational Mechanics: Computational Dynamics of Structures and Soils".
